Member Consultation

We recently consulted our registered families to get their opinions on the charity. We wanted to know a few things, such as:

What do you get out of being a registered family with Yorkshire Coast Families?

What’s the difference to your family between attending a day out or an event with just your own family and then going as a large group of families with Yorkshire Coast Families?

If you could choose one of our next day trip destinations, where would you like to go?

We had a wide range of responses and some really insightful comments which has reiterated the fact that this charity is very much needed within our area. And we do in fact make a huge difference to those who are registered with us and attend our inclusive events.

Some of the feedback went as follows:

Due to a lack of transport, some families would not attend some venues as they would have no way of getting there on their own. The coaches we provide remove this barrier for some of our families. Especially as some destinations are not on direct bus routes.

Some of our families mentioned how they feel judged by others who do not understand their children and this would deter them from going anywhere as a family. No one wants to go for a family day out, to be met with rude comments from strangers who do not understand why a child may have a meltdown. But here at Yorkshire Coast Families we all get it, our families all understand, and as so many of our families attend each of our events, if a meltdown occurs, there are dozens of other parents and carers who just get it. Offer no judgement, only support from someone who just gets it.

Some of our families commented how the subsidised costs mean they can afford to go on the trips that they wouldn’t normally be able too.

Our registered families put forward lots of suggestions for future trips such as theme parks like light water valley and flamingoland, forbidden forest, play dale farm park, doncaster wildlife park, trampoline park amongst others.
